Crafter's Gear

A blog that reviews tools used by papercrafters

Making it stick by Xyron Creative Station

Happy Monday!! Hoping everyone enjoyed their weekend.
Since my Xyron 1.5” create-a-sticker click here accommodated majority of my small papercraft projects I decided to upgrade to the Creative Station to streamline my projects. Although this specific unit can serve multi-functions with just a simple change of the cartridge, the blog will mainly focus on the adhesive function. The unit itself comes with a permanent adhesive cartridge at 5” wide and 18’ in length. Like the 1.5” create-a-sticker the Creative Station offers 3 easy steps to stickered your project. The unit features a build-in handle to guide your image through and a glide cutter to easily remove your project. (Image A)
It seems Xyron has not addressed the most common complaints among its users which is leaving an approximate 1.5” gap between uses; it’s wasteful when you consider the overall cost to maintain the unit itself (Image B).
If you are able to overlook the cost of replacements and instead considered the amount of time and mess you will have saved yourself from glue sticks, it’s quite a wonderful gear to have. Take a look at image C
imagine the challenges and amount of time it would have taken with a glue stick. To streamline my project I put to use the Creative Station and I was able to assemble my greeting card in less than 30 seconds, if you are like me and make bulk volume this machine will save you time. Although the unit can perform multi-functions and streamline your project flow, the replacements are over priced which in my opinion ranks at best 3.5 out of 5 stars. Thanks for reading and join me next time when we take a look at Stamp Press by Fiskars.
