Stamping ink pads

There are several types of inks pads available for stamping. If you are fussy like me and always strive for that perfect stamped image choosing the right type of ink is crucial. Not only is the ink a crucial part but the type of surface is just as important; sort of like peanut butter and jelly!!

This blog will cover 3 common ink pads used by most papercrafters but I will not be giving any star ratings as I will not focus on any brand in particular.

Dye ink- this type of ink is quick drying and used on most common cardstocks. Because this ink is quick drying it’s not ideal for embossing but does provide a clean crisp image. Keep in mind certain clear stamps may require conditioning in order for stamp to ink properly.
Pigment ink- this ink is mostly slow-drying which makes it very suitable for embossing and can accommodate multiple surfaces including vellum and glossy paper. Just like the dye inks the pigment ink is also capable of providing you that clean crisp image.
Chalk ink- this particular ink is quick dry but it’s embossable and accommodates much more surfaces than dye and pigment inks. Unlike the dye and pigment inks, the chalk ink offers more of a soft stamp image which might be more forgiving if you somehow get an uneven pressure image.

Depending on what you want to achieve with your project using the right ink and paper combination can achieve that perfect stamp image!! Thanks for reading and join me next time when we take a look at Cricut Expression machine.
